Toxicity Tests

Guidelines

Results

Single dose oral toxicity (Sprague Dawley Rats and Swiss Albino Mice)

As per Schedule Y

LD50 is > 10 ml/kg body weights

Repeated dose toxicity for 28 days. (Sprague Dawley Rats and New Zealand White Rabbits)

As per Schedule Y

LD50 is>10 ml/kg body weight

Acute eye irritation study (New Zealand White Rabbits)

Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD)

Non-irritant

Note: Each ml of Rajata Bhasma Liquid contains Silver equivalent 180 - 220 mcg.

Sanitizer Germ Kill Efficacy (Time Kill Assay Method)

Procedure:

  • Antimicrobial effectiveness tested for the different Sanitizers 6% Rajata Bhasma Liquid by time kill Assay method (ASTM 2315)

Interpretation:

  • 3 to 4 log reduction seen in 10sec, 30sec, 1min and 5min contact time for all bacteria.
  • 4 log reduction seen in 10sec, 30sec, 1mon and 5min contact time for yeast and molds
  • Overall, 99.9% reduction of microorganisms seen in all three different products
    of sanitizer.

Evaluation of Skin irritation potential of Rajata Bhasma Liquid Sanitizer

Protocol:

  • Dermatological evaluation of hand sanitizer+ by single occlusive patch test on healthy adult human volunteers (24 human subjects)

The effect of the product was evaluated on 3-day’s period and follow up visit at T8 (T+1 week after 0 hours of patch removal).

RESULTS :

  • Non-Irritant to Skin
  • No adverse effects (erythema, itching, irritation, rashes, stinging) were observed
